Brief Description
The Department of Environmental Science at AU conducts research into environmental dynamics and sustainable solutions. In the Environmental Social Science and Geography section, we study environmental governance, green solutions, and stakeholder engagement in sustainable transitions. We work with researchers, institutions, companies, and organisations across countries, most recently in the European projects ‘ACCESS’ (on smart energy systems) and ‘RESIST’ (on regional climate adaptation).
Role in the U_CAN Project
In the U_CAN project, AU will identify key sectors for climate action in Ukraine and develop city-specific use cases to identify possible transition pathways and future actions. We will also contribute to empowering climate action collaboration with citizens and civil society organisations. We provide our scientific expertise in conducting qualitative research into climate governance, as well as our experience in facilitating exchange and visioning among different stakeholders.
