How can Ukraine's rich construction history contribute to post-war reconstruction and sustainable rebuilding?

TS27 at the 9th International Congress on Construction History (ICCH9) invites researchers, architects, engineers, conservation specialists, and material scientists to explore historical building technologies – from vernacular architecture to Soviet-era prefabrication – and their relevance for sustainable post-war rebuilding.

The session will examine construction technologies as systems of knowledge, labour, materials, and technical practice, highlighting the value of historical expertise for damage assessment, heritage conservation, structural rehabilitation, and resilient urban development.

Session chairs: Alessandra Tosone, Marianna Rotilio, Danilo Di Donato (University of L'Aquila, U_CAN partners) and Olesia Chagovets (architect-restorer and researcher specialising in architectural heritage conservation, Ukraine).
