About the Event

The upcoming Central European Energy Conference 2024 (CEEC XVIII), hosted by the Slovak Foreign Policy Association (SFPA), will take place on December 2-3, 2024, in Bratislava, Slovakia. This annual event offers a vital platform for discussing pressing issues in energy security, climate policy, and sustainability within Central Europe and the EU at large. Among key features of this year's event is its focus on fostering collaboration between EU and Ukrainian municipalities, underlining the role of local governments in driving meaningful climate action.

Funding the Future: EU Opportunities for Climate Action in Municipalities

One of the highlights of the conference is a dedicated Roundtable for Ukrainian municipalities, part of the broader U_CAN project activities. Representatives from partner cities such as Lviv, Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr, Kherson, and Ivano-Frankivsk will explore strategies for implementing effective climate policies, leveraging EU funding opportunities, and strengthening cross-border collaboration. Key EU funding mechanisms, including Interreg and Horizon, will be central to these discussions, enabling mayors and municipal leaders to craft impactful sustainability initiatives and enhance project visibility.

This roundtable aligns with CEEC XVIII's overarching mission: addressing the dual challenges of energy security and decarbonization in a region facing geopolitical and environmental pressures. It also emphasizes the importance of peer-to-peer learning, knowledge exchange, and fostering partnerships to maximize the impact of local climate actions.
