Brief Description
LIFE - Institut für Klima, Energiesysteme und Gesellschaft (Department of Joanneum Research GmbH) Our research focuses on energy markets, renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies, energy communities, sector coupling with mobility and industry, decarbonisation of the building sector and nature-based solutions as well as the adaptation of all these technologies into everyday consumption patterns. Our mission is to create solutions for the Green Deal, as well as for addressing challenges facing society, including the digital transformation. Our goals are to develop productive cooperation with social partners to develop solutions and technologies for business and industry on the key issues of climate change. Our achievements from previous projects are related to the rationale for building an electricity ecosystem for many participants, which allows us to match the supply of green energy with the demand for it, and to optimize the territorial distribution of electricity generating facilities. We are working on the substantiation of environmentally-oriented solutions for the use of ecosystem resources to replace and supplement technical means of climate protection. We have developed 4 pilot projects for the construction of energy-efficient buildings, which are characterized by a positive energy balance without external energy consumption due to their design features. Joanneum Research Life has experience and competences in the development of business models and the technoeconomic analysis of environmental technologies. Additionally we have competences in the analysis of environmental policies and regulatory frameworks.
Role in the U_CAN Project
The main resources we provide include qualified analysts, access to reports on our previous projects, data banks collected by us, a system of built contacts with potential project partners. In the U_CAN project, we will focus our attention on the justification of technological and organizational solutions for the decarbonization of industry in pilot cities. We will determine the mechanism of interaction of all interested economic actors in the implementation of the strategy of decarbonization of cities in Ukraine.
