On 23 September 2026, the University of L’Aquila (ULA), a partner in the U_CAN consortium, participated in the presentation of the EUAM Academy’s International executive programme for Ukrainian municipalities in Pescara, Italy. The programme aims to strengthen the capacity of Ukrainian local government representatives to access EU programmes and funding for reconstruction.

During the event, Prof. Marianna Rotilio and Prof. Donato Di Ludovico presented the expertise developed by ULA and its Department of civil, construction-architectural and environmental engineering in post-earthquake reconstruction. Drawing on L’Aquila’s experience following the 2009 earthquake, they highlighted the relevance of this expertise to Ukraine’s reconstruction and the development of more resilient communities. Representatives of the USRA and USRC Special Offices also attended the event.

Through U_CAN, the University of L’Aquila contributes its reconstruction expertise to knowledge exchange between European partners and Ukrainian municipalities, supporting efforts towards resilient and sustainable urban recovery.
